M. RUSSELL BALLARD
M. Russell Ballard, Mormon Apostle.
| In October 2002, LDS Apostle M. Russell Ballard told thousands of Mormons at the church's General Conference that the faith was "raising the bar" on missionary standards.
He said nothing about sacrificing quantity for quality.
But two years after that speech, the church's global missionary force has dropped from near 62,000 to about 51,000, a fact that may have contributed to the declining number of new LDS converts from around 300,000 to 241,000 in 2004.
It wasn't a surprise, said LDS spokesman Dale Bills in a recent interview. "In raising qualification standards for missionary service, the church anticipated some decline in the number of missionaries serving."
Still, it has left Mormons all across the country and on LDS weblogs debating the benefits and costs of the change.
Some see the value of culling slackers - the unconverted and the lazy who are a drag on the system. Others mourn the loss of some who would have been given a second chance under the old rules.
"The day of the 'repent and go' missionary is over," Ballard said in the "raising the bar" speech. "Some young men have the mistaken idea that they can be involved in sinful behavior and then repent when they're 18 1/2 so they can go on their mission at 19. While it is true that you can repent of sins, you may or you may not qualify to serve."
| Look at the fear mongering that one of the lead liars of LDS Inc, Russell M. Ballard, is doing. From DezNewz |
That filthy rag of a paper... I would not even use it to line my cat's litterbox... not even worth of cat SHIT
"We walk in a world that's filled with darkness and, to be frank, is reeling to and fro with the influence of the evil one," Elder Ballard said. But because of Smith's revelations and instruction, church members do not need to fall victim to that darkness, he said.
Ballard is a bastard for spreading such lies that perpetuate false fear.
Any COB lurkers reading this? Do me a fav when you see him next time at the COB, tell him he is a fucking liar.

| Note: The Mormon Church owns and operates KSL Channel 5 - NBC Affiliate (Bonneville Communications) in Salt Lake City. The Mormon Church censors shows such as Saturday Night Live, but allows daytime violent and sexual shows such as Days of our Lives and others to be broadcast.
M. Russell Ballard, “Let Our Voices Be Heard,” Ensign, Nov. 2003, 16
“According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, the percentage of television prime-time shows with sexual content jumped from 67 percent in 1998 to 75 percent in the year 2000. 2 Media with this kind of content has numerous negative effects. It fosters a callous attitude toward women, who are often portrayed as objects of abuse and not as precious daughters of God who are essential to His eternal plan. The long-cherished values of abstinence from intimate relationships before marriage and complete fidelity between husband and wife after marriage are denigrated and derided. Children and youth are confused and misled by the deviant behavior they see demonstrated by so-called stars they admire and want to emulate. In the moral confusion created by the media, enduring values are being abandoned.
According to one social observer: “Television … has replaced the family, the school, and the church–in that order–as the principal [instrument] for socialization and transmission of values. … Greed, debauchery, violence, unlimited self-gratification, absence of moral restraint … are the daily fare glamorously dished up to our children.” 3
As I said once before, when you stop and think about it from a diabolically tactical point of view, fighting the family makes sense to Satan. … When evil wants to strike out and disrupt the essence of God’s work, it attacks the family. It does so by attempting to disregard the law of chastity, to confuse gender, to desensitize violence, to make crude and blasphemous language the norm, and to make immoral and deviant behavior seem like the rule rather than the exception.
We need to remember Edmund Burke’s statement: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
We need to raise our voices with other concerned citizens throughout the world in opposition to current trends.
We need to tell the sponsors of offensive media that we have had enough. [Elder Ballard: tell it to yourself!]
We need to support programs and products that are positive and uplifting. Joining together with neighbors and friends who share our concerns, we can send a clear message to those responsible. [Elder Ballard, are you responsible?]
Of course the most basic way to protest negative-impact media is simply not to watch it, see it, read it, or play it. [Elder Ballard, you will not turn a profit if no one watches KSL during Prime Time]
We should teach our family members to follow the First Presidency’s counsel to young people. From the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet, their instruction regarding entertainment and the media is very clear:
“Do not attend, view, or participate in entertainment that is vulgar, immoral, violent, or pornographic in any way.
Do not participate in entertainment that in any way presents immorality or violent behavior as acceptable. …
“Have the courage to … turn off a computer or television … if what is being presented does not meet Heavenly Father’s standards. Do these things even if others do not.”
Brothers and sisters, refuse to be used. Refuse to be manipulated.
Refuse to support those programs that violate traditional family values.
Here is the official definition of - TV-14:
• TV-14 (children under 14 must be accompanied by adult)
Parents are strongly urged to exercise greater care in monitoring this program and are cautioned against letting children under the age of 14 watch unattended. This rating is very broad and common so it is often accompanied by one of the following subratings:
And here is a sampling of the Lord’s television station programming:
- V for intense violence
- S for sexual situations
- L for coarse language
- D for highly suggestive dialogue

Who thinks it is right for Jesus to be making a profit by peddling this stuff?
| M. Russell Ballard recently spoke at a regional conference that was broadcast to 26 stakes from the Columbia, South Carolina stake center. He first reminded his listeners that he was Hyrum Smith's great-great-grandson (yeah, but by which wife?) He then said that on his way to the stake center from the airport that morning, he'd passed a large Baptist church, and that his driver had told him that a thousand people would probably be in attendance there that day.
He seemed annoyed about all those people being at the wrong church, and told us we should be doing more to convert Baptists to LDS-ism, and he was going to tell us how to do it. Simple, he said. Just get them to read the Introduction page to the Book of Mormon.
So I read that Introduction page. You know--it's the page where Joseph Smith is quoted as saying that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and that a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than by any other book.
As a man who lives in a heavily Baptist area, and who is descended from people who founded the oldest Baptist church in this area (1858), I really don't think the Baptists I know would be converted by reading the Introduction. And I was surprised that Ballard could be so naive as to think that any believing Baptist would be converted by something that actually insults some of his most cherished beliefs. But who am I to disagree with an Apostle of the Lord? M. Russell Ballard can't be wrong--he outranks me.
So there you have it. Inspired counsel from one of the Lord's own special witnesses. Tired of Biblical inerrancy? Annoyed at having Joseph Smith dissed by local Bible-thumpers? Get them to read the Introduction to the BOM. That'll fix it! Get those Baptists out of their crazy religion--and into YOUR crazy religion.

| This statement appeared in the Salt Lake City Tribune this weekend...."Ballard urged Mormons not to 'criticize or belittle anyone's beliefs. Our great responsibility as Christians is to share all that God has revealed with all of his sons and daughters.'" http://www.sltrib.com/News/ci_5574370
Funny, this must be a huge change in policy at lds, inc...
Here's just a very quick top ten lds "belittling" snippets from the past....there's a great [older] thread on this at
http://www.exmormon.org/mormon/mormon... ...thx Decon
1) "My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join.... I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong) -- and which I should join.
"I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: 'they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.'
"He again forbade me to join with any of them... I went home... I then said to my mother, 'I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.' " (The Pearl of Great Price, Joseph Smith -- History 1: 14, 16-20)
2) The B. of M. also predicts a great and abominable church has "taken away from the gospel of the Lamb many parts which are plain and most precious; and also many covenants of the Lord have they taken away" (I Nephi 13:26).
3)[Orson] Pratt also condemned the Catholic Bible, declaring, "That the Romanists have continued in their apostasy until the present day is demonstrated from the fact that they have not added one single book to their canon since they first formed it" (Divine Authenticity of the Book of Mormon, p. 38).
Pratt said the same thing about the "Harlot Daughters," i.e. Protestants (Ibid., p. 40). We will discuss what the LDS have added to their original scriptures in our chapter "More LDS Scripture and Revelation."
Found at http://www.utlm.org/onlinebooks/mclai...
4) "Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the "whore of Babylon" whom the Lord denounces... as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. And any person who shall be so wicked as to receive a holy ordinance of the gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent of the unholy and impious act. If any penitent believer desires to obtain forgiveness of sins through baptism, let him beware of having any thing to do with the churches of apostate Christendom, lest he perish in the awful plagues and judgments, denounced against them. The only persons among all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people who have authority from Jesus Christ to administer any gospel ordinance are those called and authorized among the Latter-day Saints. Before the restoration of the church of Christ to the earth in the year 1830, there have been no people on the earth for many generations possessing authority from God to minister gospel ordinances. We again repeat. Beware of the hypocritical false teachers and imposters of Babylon! - The Seer, Vol.2, No.4, p.255
5) "The Roman Catholic, Greek, and Protestant church is the great corrupt ecclesiastic power, represented by great Babylon which has made all nations drunk with her wickedness, and she must fall, after she has been warned with the sound of the everlasting gospel. Her overthrow will be by a series of the most terrible judgments which will quickly succeed each other, and sweep over the nations where she has her dominion, and at last she will be utterly burned by fire, for thus hath the Lord spoken. Great, and fearful, and most terrible judgments are decreed upon these corrupt powers, the nations of modern Christendom; for strong is the Lord God who shall execute His fierce wrath upon them, and He will not cease until He has made a full end, and until their names be blotted out from under heaven."
- Apostle Orson Pratt, Divine Authenticity of the Book of Mormon, p.84 - p.85
6) 1 Nephi 13:34: "...the Gentiles do stumble exceedingly, because of the most plain and precious parts of the gospel of the Lamb [Bible] which have been kept back by that abominable church, which is the mother of harlots, saith the Lamb.."
7) Doctrine and Covenants 29:21 "And the great and abominable church, which is the whore of all the earth, shall be cast down by devouring fire, according as it is spoken by the mouth of Ezekiel the prophet, who spoke of these things, which have not come to pass but surely must, as I live, for abominations shall not reign."
8) "The present Christian world exists and continues by division. The MYSTERY of Babylon the great, is mother of harlots and abominations of the earth, and it needs no prophetic vision, to unravel such mysteries. The old church is the mother, and the protestants are the lewd daughters. Alas! alas! what doctrine, what principle, or what scheme, in allWhat prayers, what devotion, or what faith, `since the fathers have fallen asleep,' has opened the heavens; has brought men into the presence of God; and to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to an innumerable company of angels? The answer is, not any: `There is none in all christendom that doeth good; no, not one.'
- Apostle John Taylor, Times and Seasons, Vol.6, No.1, p.811
9) Pre-1990 Temple Ceremony:
"(The scene changes to the Celestial Kingdom. Peter, James, and John approach Jehovah with their report.)
PETER: Jehovah, we have visited the man Adam in the Telestial World as thou didst command us. We found Satan there, with his ministers, preaching all manner of false doctrine, and striving to lead the posterity of Adam astray. But Adam has been true and faithful to the token and sign given him in the Garden of Eden, and is waiting for the further light and knowledge you promised to send him. This is our report."
10) "Babylon, literally understood, is the gay world; spiritual wickedness, the golden city, and the glory of the world, The priests of Egypt, who received a portion gratis from Pharaoh; the priests of Baal, and the Pharisees, and Sadducees, with their "long robes," among the Jews, are equally included in their mother's family, with the Roman Catholics, Protestants, and all that have not had the keys of the kingdom and power thereof, according to the ordinances of God.
- Prophet John Taylor, Times and Seasons, Vol.6, No.1, p.939
"DON'T DO AS I DO, DO AS I SAY DO....DAMN IT...Now back on your heads....we're TRYING to mainstream here folks...get with the program"...thus spake the Brethren.
"God cannot alter the past, though historians can."
Historians....and religious leaders with an agenda....
| From the Daily Herald web site(including alternate spelling of Quorum):
Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorem of Twelve also had a message about technology. He spoke about the relevance of ancient and modern prophets.
"You cannot do a Google search to get a testimony," he said. "You can't text-message faith."
Indeed testimonies do come form a different place– not to far from the land of make-believe– and Google is in conflict with reaching this state of mind.
In modern society, "the boundaries of taste and decency have been pushed to the point where there are no boundaries at all," the marketplace rejects right and wrong, and when people of faith attempt to warn others of the consequences of sin, "they are mocked."
Church members should look to ancient and modern prophets for guidance about what is real, he said.
"According to your God-given agency, the choice is yours," he said.
But Mormons, for the most part are able to admit there's no Santa Claus. Why then is Google so scary?? I mean, is their case really that weak?
Oh wait, I already know the answer to this one. Give me Google vs. God's Mormon prophets anyday when it comes to getting actual facts.
| During a TV interview Ballard (with Q. Cook as his zany rubber-faced sidekick) explained why they were talking to the media. "We want to be understood; we don't want to be misunderstood." Then Ballard proceeded to avoid answering questions that would have allowed the public to actually understand Mormonism.
Mormons don't want to be understood, well not yet at least. Before they want you to know the real stuff they want you already committed to the Morg hook, line and sinker. Until then they want to feed you "milk" to make you feel good about the Morg so you can become a "hook, line and sinker" Mormon. If you are the public at large they definitely don't want to answer any questions about fundamental doctrines. They would rather have you think that the Mormons are just a bunch of people dedicated to goodness and decency.
Hinckley happily said "Mormonism makes bad men good and good men better." But when asked about a fundamental doctrine he hemed and hawed and changed the subject. When interviewed by THE NEW YORKER he was asked if Mormonism was a form of polytheism. Now, remember, this is the Church president of a Church whose scriptures and founding prophets spoke of a "plurality of Gods." His reply to the reporter: "I haven't the remotest idea what you are talking about."
Now that's not the answer of someone wanting to be understood, that's the answer of someone wanting to skirt the issue.
During the 2008 Republican primary Huckabee mentioned in passing that he'd heard that in Mormonism Jesus and Satan are brothers. Mormons cried "foul." A carefully worded statement by an official LDS spokesperson began by mentioning that this is usually mentioned by anti-Mormons. Then it went on in vague style about how we believe God created all yadda yadda. No mention of the doctrine of the pre-existence or the doctine that we were born to OUR God as spirit children of which does make Jesus and Lucifer "spirit brothers." The impression one got from the carefully worded official statement was that it was just a bunch of lies. But, of course, it wasn't specifically denied.
Mormons want to paint a false picture with all the "third nipples" and boils airbrushed over. Only when you have totally committed yourself to the Morg will they come clean about what the real deal is.
Mormons WANT to be misunderstood. They work hard at being misunderstood. They just want to control HOW they are misunderstood. When they can't they cry "persecution."

| From Mormon Times:
PROVO, Utah – Keep the gospel of Jesus Christ simple and avoid the enticements of Satan, an LDS apostle advised college-age Mormon men and women listening throughout North America on Sunday.
Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints addressed members gathered for one of the periodic Church Educational System satellite broadcasts originating from the Marriott Center on the Brigham Young University campus.
From ABC News:
Burress's group surveyed 45,000 hotels nationwide to see if they offered adult pay-per-view movies. At least 25,000 did not. Burress created a website called CleanHotels.com to list those "safe" hotels.
He has also been involved in drives to get big chains like Marriott to remove the films.
"We have targeted Marriott because they put themselves forward as being a family hotel," Burress said. "They have also been the most aggressive. They have well over 100 porn movies in every room. Everything from Larry Flint titles to daddy does his daughter. Just pitiful."
Marriott Center is a 22,700-seat multi-purpose arena at 1497 N 450 E on the campus of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and is home to the BYU Cougars men's and women's basketball teams. It was named in honor of J. Willard Marriott, the LDS founder of the Marriott Corporation (and a graduate of BYU's archrival, the University of Utah).
| Loss of members spurred LDS singles ward changes.
This generation of Mormons represents future church leaders, who will carry the kingdom of God on their shoulders, LDS apostle M. Russell Ballard told nearly 5,000 young Latter-day Saints on Tuesday evening.
Ballard repeated LDS President Thomas S. Monson’s recent admonitions to young single Mormon men to stop “hanging out” and start dating with an eye toward marriage. Ballard said he was confident that this change would improve the group’s spiritual and social opportunities.
“We hope you’ve got the message: You have no option to bounce around,” he said, referring to a common practice dubbed ward-hopping in which young Mormons shop around for congregations they like. “We know where you are. We’ve got our radar focused on you.”
David Evans, of the church’s First Quorum of the Seventy, said the evening was “a historic occasion,” then laid out the history of student wards and the reasons for eliminating them and shifting to Young Single Adult congregations.
| First, he fires off that the Mormons are the one and only again:
"This is the name by which the Lord will call us at the last day, It is the name by which [Jesus Christ's] church will be distinguished from all others."
Sorry Catholics, Jews, Muslims. When Christ comes again, he will be heading to Salt Lake City, Utah. First he'll stop at the food court, maybe visit city creek, take a peek at the million dollar condos.
Then, the lie that continues to be perpetuated:
"Let me state clearly that no polygamist group, including those calling themselves Fundamentalist Mormons or other derivatives of our name, have any affiliation whatsoever with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."
OUR name? What name is that? the Mormon Church has had several names since it was first organized.
In 1828, "My Church". In 1829, "The Church Of Christ". In 1834, "The Church of the Latter-Day Saints". In 1839, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints".
Again, he perpetuates the lie that there is no affiliation between the FLDS and the LDS Church.
Ok, let's go back again because it is like a frying pan to the head with these guys.
There is a FULL affiliation between the FLDS and the LDS church. The FLDS church broke off during the first polygamy manifesto. They use the same Book of Mormon. They both believe that Joseph Smith restored the gospel. They both believe that Brigham Young was a Prophet of God. Brigham Young believed Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. Both believe in eternal polygamy while the LDS church only allows polygamy AFTER a spouse has died, the FLDS believe polygamy is still on the earth. It is the sole reason they broke off from the LDS church - they believed the church had fallen due to Brigham Young's prophecy.
The residents in the area of Hildale, Utah, and Colorado City, Arizona, have a long history of practicing plural marriage, dating to the mid-19th century. Brigham Young, then President of the LDS Church, once visited the area stating, "This will someday be the head and not the tail of the church." The twin cities were once known as Short Creek, officially founded in 1913 as a ranching community.
Ballard is just trying to obscure the line between the LDS Cult and the FLDS Cult, both of which came from the same lying, thieving, adulterous, polygamous, murderous roots. This obfuscation started earlier this year with Valerie Hudson at FAIR, and is now being spouted off at General Conference.
The FLDS traces its claim to spiritual authority to accounts, starting with a statement published in 1912 by Lorin C. Woolley, of a purported 1886 divine revelation to then-LDS Church President John Taylor. They see this 1886 revelation as precluding validity of the 1890 Manifesto against new plural marriages by church members, issued by Wilford Woodruff, whom the LDS Church recognizes as Taylor's successor. After the formal abandonment of plural marriage by the LDS Church, many members around Short Creek and elsewhere continued, and even solemnized, plural marriages. In 1904, the LDS Church issued the Second Manifesto and eventually excommunicated those who continued to solemnize or enter into new plural marriages.
Again, let me quote what Ballard said this weekend:
"Let me state clearly that no polygamist group, including those calling themselves Fundamentalist Mormons or other derivatives of our name, have any affiliation whatsoever with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."
Ballard, you are a pathetic, bold faced liar. And anyone who isn't drinking your brand of koolaid will find this out with just a few quick keystrokes on Google. With the FLDS fallout, Ballard is just trying to blur the line between his cult and their cult.
| Mormon hasn't always rolled off of the tongue for the marketing forces within TSCC. For one thing, it came with too much baggage- the evangelical churches used the name as an easy target: We worship christ, not your mormon- whoever that was.
TSCC must think that enough time has passed that they can reclaim the word, mormon. Their rebranding exercise will move into overdrive next week, with the word mormon being the key touchstone. M. Russell Ballard kicked off the campaign to reclaim the "m" word at this weekend's conference. He all but demanded that the Brighamite branch of the LDS movement be given a monopoly over the use of the word, and implied that others who are using it are not entitled to do so. Quoting PF Stack's article in today's Salt Lake Tribune:
Jesus Christ is at the core of Mormon faith, an LDS apostle said emphatically on Sunday, and one clear piece of evidence is the Utah-based faith’s formal name – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"This is the name by which the Lord will call us at the last day," M. Russell Ballard told more than 20,000 Mormons gathered in the giant Conference Center and millions more watching via satellite and on the Internet. "It is the name by which [Jesus Christ’s] church will be distinguished from all others."
In an address during the morning session on the second day of the faith’s 181st Semiannual General Conference, Ballard also condemned the use of the term Mormon to describe former members of the church or those who practice polygamy, which the LDS Church abandoned more than 100 years ago.
It leads to confusion, he said.
"Let me state clearly that no polygamist group, including those calling themselves Fundamentalist Mormons or other derivatives of our name," Ballard said, "have any affiliation whatsoever with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."
Okay, he lays down the gauntlet. The word, Mormon is their exclusive property. Unfortunately for Ballard, the Book of Mormon was written in 1830- it is way past copyright protection, and into the public domain. It's ironic that they shunned the word for so long, but now want it back with a vengeance. It's fine if they want to start using it again, but I am also going to reclaim it for my own self-identification: exmormon.
If the LDS say Fundamentalists aren't Mormons then they can't complain when protestants say the Mormons aren't Christians. Hypocrisy at it's finest I guess.
Mormon as a trademark
In some countries, "Mormon" and some phrases including the term are registered trademarks owned by Intellectual Reserve, Inc.
In the United States, in 2002, the LDS Church applied for a trademark on "Mormon" as applied to religious services; however, the United States Patent and Trademark Office rejected the application, stating that the term "Mormon" was too generic, and is popularly understood as referring to a particular kind of church, similar to "Presbyterian" or "Methodist", rather than a service mark. The application was abandoned as of August 22, 2007.
| Starting at about the 28 minute mark.
From the beginning of time there have been men... and women who have had unusual powers of persuasion. Those with gifts of communication have always had great influence, but the influence of persuasive communicators has never been greater than today. Because of the internet and particularly the popularity and proliferation of social media... anyone can talk to anyone about anything. Today, anyone who is clever, articulate and glib can find an audience and develop a following. Unfortunately not everyone who has cultivated the ability to communicate uses their powers of expression to spread or teach truth. And not everyone has the help of the Holy Ghost to think straight. In what I say this morning, please keep in mind that we 'think straight' about the basic doctrine of Christ which includes the love our father in heaven has for his daughters who are precious and essential to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"There are those who question the place of women in God's plan and in the church. I've been interviewed enough by national and international media to tell you that most journalists with whom I have dealt have had preconceived notions about this topic. Through the years many have asked questions implying that women are second class citizens in the church. Brothers and sisters nothing could be further from the truth than that."
"Surely we must agree that our heavenly father and his son jesus Christ know best which opportunities the sons and the daughters of God would need to best prepare the human family for eternal life. Most everyone has family or friends who have been caught up in various troubling contemporary social issues. Arguing about the issues generally does not bring any resolution and in fact can create contention. There are some questions about the church's positions on sensitive issues that are hard to answer to anyones satisfaction. However when we seek the Lord in prayer about how to feel and what to do in these situations the impressions come. Do you believe in Jesus Christ? Do you follow him and the father?"
Speaking specifically about why women aren't given the priesthood.
"Brothers and Sisters this matter like many others come down to our faith. Do we believe that this is the Lord's church? Do we believe that he has organized it according to his purposes and wisdom? Do we believe that his wisdom far exceeds ours? Do we believe that he has organized his church in the manner that would be the greatest possible blessing to all of his children. Both his sons and his daughters? I know these things to be true."
This type of rhetoric requires no reasonable backing or framework, and as a result it doesn't have any real limitations on what it could be applied to. I think it is important reminder though being surrounded online by internet Mormonism to remember that the leaders and the average chapel Mormons still thinks mostly in terms of the above quote. Black and White. The thoughtful faiths, and the nuanced world views are almost entirely aftermarket extensions to Mormonism.
| Letter from Europe Area Presidency dated 23 Aug 2013:
Month of Invitation and the Young Single Adults
1) So Jesus's 'unconditional love' for a person increases when they do missionary work?!
We are very grateful for the many wonderful reports received from around the Europe Area following the Month of Invitation in June. Many souls have returned to church, and many have experienced the light and love of the gospel for the first time, resulting in more people attending church in Europe than ever before.
As you know, when Elder Ballard was with us in June, he gave a special broadcast to all of the young single adults. He challenged each of them to bring one person into church activity before the end of this year:
?Take the leadership of finding others and bring one other person--a non-member or a less-active- -into the church. I promise you as an Apostle, that if you pray and prepare, you will be successful.?
President, please gather your young adults together and personally help them understand the meaning and power of this promise. Elder Ballard went on to say, ?I promise you there is nothing that you and I can do that brings the affection and love of the Lord Jesus Christ more upon us, than bringing a soul to him. Why? Because anyone who has ever studied Gethsemane knows and understands that every soul is precious unto him.?
Please help the bishops, Relief Society presidents, and all of the other leaders assist our beloved young adults to fully understand this invitation, and please help them to invite their friends to attend sacrament meeting with them in December.
We thank you for everything that you are doing to build the Kingdom, and send our love to you.
2) Ballard made his promise as an Apostle - wow!
3) No mention of numbers in their stated growth, just anecdotal as always
No wonder Mormons have such a lousy reputation. Everything! And I mean everything is a numbers game. "The reports show productivity." I know Mormons give Catholics nothing including any respect. And Catholics have got issues within their own church they are dealing with. The child sex abuse comes to mind.
But I have never and I mean never been asked about my sex life, my volunteer work in my parish, my relationship status or the money I donate. Mormons are over worried about numbers. And numbers for everything. The Reports. Reports. The Nazis prepared reports. Any lights going on yet?
Sure invite people to your church. If they are not happy or sense something wrong they won't come back. It happens to all churches. It's disgusting that first, members of Mormonism must prepare to bring someone to church. This sounds and feels like a trap. But the fact that the top leadership demands and gets a report...this is some scary stuff.
Are Mormons building a factory? And need to account for every nut and bolt. Or are they there/here to serve the needs of the community?
