President Faust: If Church Is #1 Everything Will Be Fine

I had some time today to go through some articles I came across and bookmarked to read later.

http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,12...8,00.html?lds=T

Excerpts from the article:

"The distinction is important, he added, because members who place the church in their hearts will have stronger families, the greatest power against drug and alcohol abuse and other elements of societal decay.

President Faust said the church exists, in large measure, to strengthen families, but when it is not at the core, family effectiveness wanes.

"So the family is, and must always be, an important part of the church," he said. "But the Lord's Kingdom ultimately must be found in our hearts before it can be anywhere else."

The church is increasingly being asked to fill in for weakened families, President Faust revealed.

"Because of the erosion of family life and family values we frequently hear urgent pleas requesting the church as an organization to take over activities formerly considered family activities. I wonder if our maturing youth can hold everything together without family home evening, daily family prayer and daily family scripture study."

Notice how Faust gives the CHURCH credit for successful families? Wonder why he doesn't mention the depression, the suicides, divorces, etc in his talk? This stuff hits ALL members, inactive, active, TBMs, etc.

(enter sarcasm here) Oh, wait a minute, I almost forgot - because that "real-life" stuff only happens to BAD members and those who DON'T have the church as number one in their hearts. Silly me.

I also find it interesting that church leaders become upset when Mormons are not looked at as true Christians but hey, did Faust mention Christ at all? Well, let's say he is not quoted in this article to have mentioned Christ.
"God Is Worthless" - By James E. Faust

The other night I went home teaching (reluctantly) and my companion offered to share the "spiritual thought." It was this month's First Presidency Message in the Ensign by James Faust.

Only now that I am awake do I realize how horrible this church really is: emotionally abusive, authoritative, guilt inflicting, and more.

This message is just that. And what's even worse is the fact that the God that Mormon's worship is worthless and hardly impressive.

Consider the following excerpt from the article:
For some, the suffering is extraordinary. In the early days of the Church Stillman Pond was a member of the second quorum of the seventy in Nauvoo. He was an early convert to the Church, having come from Hubbardston, Massachusetts. Like others, he and his wife, Maria, and their children were harassed and driven out of Nauvoo. In September 1846 they became part of the great western migration. The early winter that year brought extreme hardships, including malaria, cholera, and consumption. The family was visited by all three of these diseases.

Maria contracted consumption, and all of the children were stricken with malaria. Three of the children died while moving through the early snows. Stillman buried them on the plains. Maria's condition worsened because of the grief, pain, and the fever of malaria. She could no longer walk. Weakened and sickly, she gave birth to twins. They were named Joseph and Hyrum, and both died within a few days.

The Stillman Pond family arrived at Winter Quarters, and like many other families, they suffered bitterly while living in a tent. The death of five children coming across the plains to Winter Quarters was but a beginning.

The journal of Horace K. and Helen Mar Whitney verifies the following regarding four more of the children of Stillman Pond who perished:

"On Wednesday, the 2nd of December 1846, Laura Jane Pond, age 14 years, . . . died of chills and fever." Two days later on "Friday, the 4th of December 1846, Harriet M. Pond, age 11 years, . . . died with chills." Three days later, "Monday, the 7th of December, 1846, Abigail A. Pond, age 18 years, . . . died with chills." Just five weeks later, "Friday, the 15th of January, 1847, Lyman Pond, age 6 years, . . . died with chills and fever."

Four months later, on May 17, 1847, his wife, Maria Davis Pond, also died. Crossing the plains, Stillman Pond lost nine children and a wife. He became an outstanding colonizer in Utah and later became a leader in the quorums of the seventy. Having lost these nine children and his wife in crossing the plains, Stillman Pond did not lose his faith. He did not quit. He went forward. He paid a price, as have many others before and since, to become acquainted with God.
Reading this I find myself thinking, "God would be much more impressive if he actually prevented these people from dying due to the great sacrifice they were making for him." Instead, he does nothing and we are lead to believe that it is part of his plan. How does anyone dare call that the "Plan of Happiness?" Are we really to believe that God has anything to do with Mormonism?

Faust goes on to say:
"The proving of one's faith goes before the witnessing, for Moroni testified, 'Ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.' This trial of faith can become a priceless experience."
This is mind control! It shows up in my house every month and it is authored by the beloved bretheren of the church. It is bullshit. Many of our ancestors lost their lives because they fell victim to the lies and deception of the mormon dictators running the church. They continue to run the church today. Members will never be good enough, and every time we attend a church meeting we are constantly reminded of how often we fall short and how much more there is to do - even giving our lives for this "god damned" religion is not enough.

I am embarrassed that I sat through this lesson. I am embarrassed that I ever considered myself part of the mormon klan. This is simply one more nail in the coffin.
The Day I Was A Bodyguard For James Faust

During my TBM days it was announced that James Faust would be presiding over a Regional Conference in our area and I was asked to serve on his security team for the day. Those of us on the team had to meet on the day before the conference to go over security procedures, first aid, coordination with local law enforcement, and our assignments. Since I have a background as a former police officer I was asked to shadow Elder Faust the entire time he was at the conference.

We had to be at the arena at 6:30 AM. Since it was the sabbath I didn't hit a McDonald's or BK for breakfast. I figured that I'd be blessed for starving. Prior to the doors being opened, we had to do a complete sweep of the arena for weapons, bombs, and people who were not supposed to be there. We were also given small lapel stickers to show the other security team members that we were all on the same page.

Amazingly, church security did not accompany him on the trip and he was met by an off-duty LDS police officer at the airport's executive/private jet terminal who drove him to the local Stake Center for meetings. He arrived at the arena about 15 minutes before the start of the conference.

When the doors were opened to the members there was a mad rush to get the seats closest to the front. I was standing on the side of the podium watching for anything out of place when I noticed a guy with a bulge under his suit coat. I knew the guy was a nut case so I nodded to one of the uniformed police officers in attendance and he went over and confronted the man. The police officer put his hand on the bulge and he immediately grabbed the guy's wrist and walked him briskly to the other side of the podium where he was met by 2-3 other police officers. He was taken out the side door and was escorted to a waiting police car. He was carrying a .45 cal semi-automatic handgun. His reason was that he didn't want to see anyone get too close to Pres. Faust. He had a concealed handgun permit and was allowed back in without the gun.

When Faust arrived I met him behind the stage and shook his hand. I led him to his seat and sat directly behind him so that I was looking at the back of his head and could scan the crowd at the same time.

The talks were uneventful for the most part but Pres. Faust's stands out for some reason. I thought I'd hear some kind of prophetic message but instead all he did was tell a bunch of different stories about whatever was on his mind. Even his closing testimony was lacking in spirituality.

After the closing prayer he wanted to press the flesh so I ended up walking around the floor of the arena watching out for terrorists and kidnappers but none came close to where I was.

When he was finished I escorted him to his private room behind the stage where there was a huge spread of food laid out for the leadership. There must have been $3,000+ in catered food for 10-12 men. Shrimp, lobster, prime rib, salads, desserts, fruit trays, crab legs, breads, cold cuts- you name it and it was probably there. They closed the door while the security team stood watch outside and kept all the riff-raff away from the Lord's anointed. People had books they wanted him to sign, scriptures to sign, and one lady wanted a blessing. But the brethren were to busy eating that they didn't come out.

After about 30 minutes Pres. Faust came out with the Stake Presidencies and was taken back to the airport so he could fly back to SLC. He was on the ground in our town for about 5 hours. Before he left the arena the lady who wanted a blessing called out to him and asked him to please bless her. He stopped and asked her, "Sister, do you have a home teacher?" She said, "Yes." He said, "Than I suggest that you call him because that's what he is there for." And he walked away.

After he left I was hoping to get some of the food from the feast but when I got back to the room most of the food was already taken out to on of the Stake President's wife's minivan. I guess she needed it more than us starving security guys.

I met my wife in the parking lot (she came with her parents) and we went to lunch together. It was the first time in my life that I was unimpressed with one of the top 15 men in the church. I'd met Monson, Hinckley, Packer, Maxwell, McConkie, Benson, Kimball, and Tanner but Faust was different.

Looking back now I can say that he was just a man trying to entertain 5,000 people for 30 minutes so he could get back home before dinner.

F'n cult.
James E. Faust Divulges The Magic Secret To A Happy Marriage - Wait For It - Yup, You Guessed It - Tithing

ARGHHHHH!!! Is there NOTHING in this stupid belief system that doesn’t come down to paying your 10%???? Don't these guys ever get embarrassed about how much they talk about money and what ridiculous lengths they go to to tie tithing to eternal happiness?

The March Ensign includes several abominable articles, but the one credited to President James E. Faust entitled “Enriching Your Marriage” contains some real pearls of Mormon wisdom. In the section where Faust describes specific methods for enriching a marriage he jumps right into strategy numero uno – prayer. He states, “Marriage relationships can be enriched by better communication. Once important way is to pray together”.

Uh....wait a minute. I am all for better communication. But, when you pray to Heavenly Father, aren’t you talking to an imaginary being? How does it help two married people in conflict to have them simultaneously talk to a third party – a party which does not really even exist? This is not communication, this is triangulation and it is a notoriously dysfunctional way for human beings to interact. Trying to communicate with your spouse by going through a third party intermediary is never a good idea. Even in counseling situations a good therapist tries to get the couple to speak directly to each other! Trying to communicate with your spouse through prayer is the equivalent of using a magic 8 ball or the Ouija board. Inevitably you end up in an argument over whose divine revelation is the correct one.

The part about tithing just about made me fall off of the kitchen stool. Faust says, “ I learned in serving almost 20 years as bishop and stake president that an excellent insurance against divorce is the payment of tithing. Payment of tithing seems to facilitate keeping the spiritual battery charged in order to make it through the times when the spiritual generator has been idle or not working”.

HUH? So, explain to me how giving LDS, inc. 10% of my income helps me avoid divorce? Don’t a whole bunch of full tithe payers get divorced every single year? Isn’t fighting over money the number one area of conflict in most marriages? This makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever! What kind of idiot would ever believe something like this?

Throughout the article, Faust goes on and on about how blissfully happy his own marriage is and always has been. It strikes me that I have read this same bilge from every GA who writes on the subject of marriage – it is utterly predictable. Now, statistically, it would be safe to assume that at least one-third of these GA marriages are anything BUT happy.

You know, there is only one thing worse than being in a miserable marriage.....

Having to pretend to all the world for the rest of your days that you are actually happy living in hell.
This Makes Me So Very Mad And So Very Sad! James E. Faust Sold Gold Fillings From Poor South Americans!

There is an article about the "sacrifice" of people in Argentina and Bolivia for the building of a temple. They were told by James E. Faust that the "saints" need to sacrifice for temple building, and that some members in Argentina gave the gold from their dental work to help pay for the temple! And then he had the gall to say that "he had purchased some of the gold fillings for more than the market price to impress upon the minds of congregations the nature of the sacrifice made by these members." I am so mad and sad!!!!!!

Some points here:
  • These people obviously were so poor that they did not have anything else to give to the morg other than their fillings. It is a sick institution that would even think of taking them to help pay for a building.
  • Those deceived people who had those fillings removed exposed their bloodstream to bacteria from their mouth which can be carried to the heart and other organs which can cause a myriad of health problems, including death.
  • You can bet this was NO sacrifice on the part of Faust to buy this gold. What a scum bag.
  • This was the late 1990's. The morg had more than enough money to pay for the whole temple!!!!! I lived in Utah Valley when the Mt. Timp temple was built and we were never asked to sacrifice or donate for that temple. Why these poor people in South America, some of whom can barely scrape together enough money for food!!!!!
  • When I told my children about this, my 14-year old son said, "The church has enough money! What the hell!?!", and my daughter, who was eating breakfast, lost her appetite. This is so sick and wrong!!!
I am beyond ranting!!! I haven't yet written to the mormon church leaders concerning their sick institution, but you can bet that they are going to be hearing from me about this. For this to be going on now is totally unacceptable. What a bunch of greedy you-know-whats (OK-so I want to say "bastards" but am not yet comfortable swearing!). Could you imagine Oprah going into Africa and saying,"OK people. I want to build a wonderful school for your daughters, but you poor people have to sacrifice and give me the money to do it with. Oh yes, and that would include the gold fillings from your mouth. I'll buy them from you for more than their market value. Aren't I generous!?!" Of course she wouldn't do that. She actually helps people. The mormon church does NOT.

I'm going to pass on this article to everyone I know.
The Porto Alegre Brazil Temple is the third temple to be dedicated in the nation of Brazil. The temple's location overlooks the city from the east toward a large river and port for which the city is named.

President Faust turned the ceremonial first shovelful of earth during the groundbreaking ceremony. After, he invited a young girl and boy to come help him with the digging. They not only came forward and assisted him, but the little girl also waited for him the next day at the Campinas regional conference to give him a hug of appreciation.

He emphasized the need for saints to sacrifice for temple building. He told how members in Argentina found ways to donate during the construction of the São Paulo Temple. They gave the gold from the dental work in their mouths to help pay on the temple. He said that he had purchased some of the gold fillings for more than the market price to impress upon the minds of congregations the nature of the sacrifice made by these members.

James E. Faust: Mormon Apologist

Please keep in mind the Ninth Article of Faith of Mormon Apologetics:
"9. If you can find any parallel at all between an alleged group of ancient people and a real group of ancient people, no matter how distant or unrelated the parallel and the two groups, you can claim to have shown circumstantial evidence that the alleged ancient group of people really existed without needing to show any evidence that the alleged ancient group and the real ancient group ever actually interacted with each other."
James E. Faust - November 1981 Ensign:
When it was first published in 1830, there was little scientific or historical evidence to substantiate the claims of Joseph Smith that the record came from metallic plates and told of ancient civilizations on the North and South American continents. Today such outward evidences have been discovered and help confirm that Joseph Smith was telling the truth about the Book of Mormon.
CFR.

Also: "ancient civilizations on the North and South American continents."

"The Church never taught a hemispheric model!"

It's ironic that then-Elder Faust incorporated apologetic theory in a talk, considering that he (1) alluded to a hemispheric geography for the Book of Mormon; and (2) was not a fan of picking and choosing which church doctrines you're going to follow, which is standard operative procedure for Mopologists.

James E. Faust - July 2000 Ensign
I have heard some say, “Well, I can believe all of the revelations but one.” It is hard to understand this logic. If one believes that revelations come from a divine source, how can one pick and choose? Acceptance of the gospel should be complete and absolute, with full heart and soul.
Getting The Plates And The Legend Of Enoch

The following summarizes the comparisons between the Masonic Legend of Enoch and Joseph Smith's story:

1. Enoch is shown the hill Moriah in a vision. .
2. Joseph Smith shown the hill Cumorah in a vision

1. Enoch is shown a hidden treasure.
2. Joseph Smith is shown the gold plates.

1. Enoch's treasure includes a gold plate with engravings.
2. Smith's gold plates are engraved.

1. Enoch's marble pillar is carved with Egyptian hieroglyphics.
2. Smith's plates are engraved in reformed Egyptian

1. Enoch's marble pillar tells the story of the treasure.
2. Smith's Book of Mormon tells story of the gold plates.

1. Enoch erects a brass pillar which tells the history of creation.
2. The Book of Mormon includes brass plates containing the five books of Moses.(58)

1. Enoch writes the history of the Tower of Babel on the marble pillar.
2. The Book of Mormon contains the Book of Ether, a history of a migration from the Tower of Babel.

1. Enoch's brass pillar has a metal ball on top which has the power to direct.
2. The Book of Mormon tells of a brass ball, the Liahona, which acts as a compass.

1. Enoch foresees a world-destroying flood.
2. Joseph Smith receives a revelation of the Book of Moses, giving an account of Enoch foreseeing a world-destroying flood.(59)

1. Enoch predicts that after the flood, an Israelitish descendant will find the treasure.
2. The Book of Mormon foretells an Israelitish descendant having the same name as Joseph of Egypt, who will find the treasure. Joseph claims to be the predicted descendant, even going so far as to give himself the code name of "Enoch" in his revelations. (60)

1. Three masons obtain the treasure after three attempts.
2. Smith tries to take the plates and is only successful after three attempts.

1. Three masons are witnesses to the treasure.
2. Smith arranges for three witnesses to the plates: Martin Harris, Oliver Cowdery and David Whitmer.

1. Solomon's treasure contained the gold plate, a brass pillar and record, the High Priest's breastplate, the Urim and Thummin and a metal ball. It also contained the Tetragrammaton, the name of God.
2. Smith's treasure consisted of the brass plates, gold plates, the Urim and Thummin, the High Priest's breastplate, and a metal ball called the "Liahona". The plates claimed to be from God.

1. The three masons note that the gold plate gives off enough light to illuminate the cavern.
2. Smith claims the Book of Mormon plates light up the cavern in the hill Cumorah.

1. Enoch's treasure is first hidden in his own cavern, and then later transferred to the hill Moriah. .
2. The Book of Mormon story states that the plates were first kept in a hill called Shim, then transferred to the hill Cumorah.

1. King Solomon allows only a few to see the treasure.
2. Smith allows only a few to see the plates.

1. Enoch's cavern is covered by a large stone with an iron ring.
2, Smith earlier claimed the plates were in an iron box, but later said it was stone.

1. Enoch is called by God to preserve the knowledge of the treasure.
2. Smith is called by God to preserve the knowledge of the plates.

1. King Solomon changes the status of his underground cavern from secret to sacred.
2. The Mormon temple ceremony is declared not to be secret, but sacred.

1. King Solomon allows only a few to see the treasure.
2. Smith allows only a few to see the plates.

Actually no one ever saw the plates since they didn't exist. The three so-called 'witnesses' later clarified their testimonies to say they didn't physically see the plates.

1. Enoch's marble pillar is carved with Egyptian hieroglyphics.
2. Smith's plates are engraved in reformed Egyptian

Smith only claimed it was reformed Egyptian. Reformed Egyptian didn't exist, and had never existed. The sample script he fabricated was just doodles. Since the plates didn't actually exist he could have claimed they were written in any language. Egyptian hieroglyphic had only recently been decoded and saying it was some variation of the script was just convenient as scholars on the subject were uncommon.

In The Mormon Church and Freemasonry (2001), Terry Chateau writes:

[The Joseph Smith family] was a Masonic family which lived by and practiced the estimable and admirable tenets of Freemasonry. The father, Joseph Smith, Sr., was a documented member in upstate New York. He was raised to the degree of Master Mason on May 7, 1818 in Ontario Lodge No. 23 of Canandaigua, New York. An older son, Hyrum Smith, was a member of Mount Moriah Lodge No. 112, Palmyra New York.
